1. For the first time in pretty much forever, I have a new layout not created by myself! That is, perhaps, why it doesn't suck. :P Just kidding. But not really. Anyway, it's pretty and somewhat seasonally relevant (...) and I found it over at scholarslayouts.

2. I've been a pretty bad Livejournaler lately, and I could cite various Real Life Things of Minor Importance that have been keeping me busy, but basically I'm just a bad person. I promise to improve, however, starting now. :)

3. There is no three; I just don't believe in lists of two.

That is all.

I dyed my hair again. Bonnie was dying hers red(der), and Em had a box of black hair dye lying around, so I used it. I'm not emo, I swear.

I just spent $121.82 on textbooks for my two classes for the term. Faaantastic. At least my badminton class doesn't require books! Ha! Ha! Ha! I'm afraid to check my bank account online because I feel like all I've been doing lately is spending money, even though I really haven't. I always just feel terrible when I spend money when I'm not working. Even when I was only working part-time during most of this summer, at least I had some income. Ugh.

Actually I really can't complain because my sister still owes me around $750 dollars and I should be getting a pretty hefty installment soon. Yeah.

More later. I have Important Things to do of the preparatory variety.

After lots of stupidity with my blender, I just had a deliciously tasty smoothie - mango, blueberries, vanilla soymilk, and a bit of freshly squeezed lime juice. Yummm.

I should get used to the smoothie thing since I'm getting my wisdom teeth out next Monday and my food options will be severely limited for a few days afterwards... joy!

Now back to the Olympics.

Aww, Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova won Best Song for 'Falling Slowly!' That makes me really happy. The whole category was a bit bare. I haven't seen Enchanted, and the songs probably fit well in the context of the movie, but on their own I wasn't very impressed with any of them. Still, how exciting for Glen and Marketa.

Man, the montage of people who've passed away this year is always sad, and they ended with Heath. :( Saaad.

So... I've decided that I want to watch all the movies that've won for Best Picture in the history of the Oscars. 80 movies, yeah? It will be a fun project, I think. I may start a blog to record my impressions and whatnot.

Anyway, back to the show.

Oh hey, this is my first public entry in heaven knows how long! Ooer.

Shakespeare, a hilarious Harry Potter reference, and a Milton-quotation all in the same episode - I adore Doctor Who!

Twenty minutes until my last Physics class everrrr - therefore, twenty minutes until my last math/science distro is done (sans the final, but whatever.) I'm currently watching the new ITV Persuasion on YouTube, as I wrote about the new Mansfield Park for my Austen paper. So far, Persuasion seems just as unfortunate as MP was. MP "traded subtlety for blatancy," as I wrote in my paper, and this one seems to be doing the same thing. Captain Wentworth just made his whole hedgerow/firmness of character speech in front of the entire dinner party at Kellynch, and now he's staring at Anne as she plays the pianoforte alone in a room. Whaaat?! Plus, they've employed the horribly cliche narration-through-journal-writing for Anne. What a cheap way to escape actual characterization and whatnot... these filmmakers have certainly not embraced the Austen ideal of showing and not telling. Le sigh.

Oh my goodness. Mary Musgrove is RIDICULOUS.

It's tough to be an Austen scholar in this day and age.

Pretzels + Nutella = AMAZING.

In other news, I need new happy/cheerful/summery music for my "Sunny Days" playlist. Suggestions?

Oh, one more thing - we're moving on to Mansfield Park in my Austen class, and I'm excited because it's the only one I have yet to read. :)
